News

Dear friends,

This week’s Bringing It focuses on the work of a practitioner community, partner organizations, and a leadership network. We are excited to lift up all of their achievements.

Grantee Spotlight: Virginia Commonwealth University

Dear friends,

We’re delighted this week to announce our four initial AMP Grant awardees. You may remember that AMP Grants are available to institutions that have already received funding from BTtoP for activities that amplify, disseminate, and increase the public reach of their previous work. The grants range from $500 to $3000, and they are awarded on a rolling basis. (Here is the RFP for the AMP Grants, with detailed descriptions of the activities they can support.)

Dear friends,

As you know, we’ve been working hard to build BTtoP’s community of practice, through our grants, workshops, collaboratories—and celebrating the work of members of our community. Today we are lifting a great project and an acclaimed book: the Interact-to-Innovate initiative at the University of Houston Downtown and Jonathan Metzl’s Dying of Whiteness.

What We’re Learning from Our Partners: The University of Houston Downtown’s Interact-to-Innovate Initiative

Dear friends,

In our last number of Bringing It, we wrote about our excitement at the number, range, and creativity of the proposals we received for BTtoP’s Multi-Institutional Innovation Grants (MIGs).  We wish that we had the resources to support all the excellent projects that were sent to us.  The Selection Committee’s task was a hard one—a testament to the creativity and hunger for collaboration in our community.

We’re delighted to announce the twenty-one partnership projects that were awarded Multi-Institutional Innovation Grants.

Dear friends,

We spent much of last week reading the proposals that were submitted for our Multi-Institutional Innovation Grants—or MIGs, as we’ve come to call them.  We will be reaching out in the coming days to the teams that were awarded grants, as well as to all the applicants.  And we will follow up with an announcement to you about the projects that received support.

Dear friends,

We hope this finds you well and—if you’re huddled in the Northeast/Midwest like us—not too cold. Spring can’t come too soon. Meanwhile here’s some news and reminders about BTtoP grant programs, some stuff we’ve written, and a really helpful research report.

What We’ve Been Up To

AMP Grants Now Open

Dear friends,

These last few weeks have been wonderfully hectic for BTtoP.  We’re still riding on the energy from our discussions at the AAC&U Annual Meeting in Atlanta; it was a joy to connect with friends old and new.  We are excited at the response to our RFP for Multi-Institutional Innovation Grants, having received some 95 proposals.  (We will announce the grant selections in mid-March.)  We have just issued our second RFP for “AMP Grants”—see below for details.  And we are delighted to welcome our new intern, Georgetown senior Katie Altman, who introduces herself below.

Proposal Deadline: Proposals will be accepted on a rolling basis beginning March 1, 2019.
Awards Announced: Awards will be announced on a rolling basis beginning April 1, 2019.
