Enhancing SUNY Buffalo State's Political Science Curriculum Through Infused Civic Engagement in a Revised Curriculum to Promote Enlivened Students and Communities

Category 2: Program Development Grant

"This proposal provides the opportunity to evaluate two coordinated initiatives at their very inception. The political science department at SUNY Buffalo State has been reorganized into a two autonomous divisions: a graduate Master_s of Public Administration (MPA) division and an undergraduate division containing both a BA in Political Science and a new BA in International Relations. The faculty stress the importance of increasing student involvement in their community. We are dissatisfied with the traditional passive delivery of course material and seek to engage students in more meaningful learning experiences. We firmly believe that such enhanced pedagogy will both enhance the retention of the knowledge and skills provided but also create self-learners who will interact with their community in a positive and beneficial symbiosis."
