Nebraska Wesleyan University: Psychosocial Well-Being Initiative Grant

Psychosocial Well-Being Initiative Grant

The major goal of our initiative was to increase overall awareness about students’ sense of purpose and psychosocial well-being on our campus, facilitated through the use of ePortfolios. The targeted outcomes of this project focused mainly on the psychosocial well-being of all students taking our first-year Archway Seminar.

The objectives of NWU’s BTtoP grant fit well with our University Mission Statement, which notes that we are “an academic community dedicated to intellectual and personal growth.” Our mission also articulates a desire to “integrate questions of meaning and value with the pursuit of learning and understanding,” and a goal that our students “develop a sense of individual worth and become useful and serving members of the human community.” Our BTtoP Well-Being project has enabled us to put these ideals into practice, by directly engaging first-year students in discussions related to their well-being and sense of vocation.
